How to get 5v pulses(cycle 1sec per pulse) from a computer.i need around 1 to 100 puls on each track in seq.?
Hi friends, i want few(10 to 100) 1sec cycle pulses in series on around 64 tracks(at a time there will be series of 10 -100 pulses on one track) at a time to come out of the computer which will be controlled by the operator for eg .. the operator wants around 20 pulses on track no 1..the software should give 20 pulses in series on track no. 1 and wait for the next command.
say now operator wants 100 pulses on track no. 13,,now as soon as operator types the above data on computer.. it should give 100 pulses on track no.13.. here max tracks is 64 and pulse can be around 100.. also the software should read the no. pulses which is givn from particulardevice i.e it should count the no of pulses .can anyone help me with the software and hardware required to create these pulses and read the pulses
You will need a DAQ device, these are devices that can input and output arbitrary signals. The are most commonly used for reading analog voltages, but they also can be used for reading and sending digital signals.
They come with software libraries for the common languages, VB, C/C++, C# and others. They include many examples to get started. Expect that it will take a bit of work to get going, but it is possible.
I have a mild preference for National Instruments software libraries, but either will do you fine.
There are some 64 IO devices, you can also use a pair of 32 IO devices. You may want a 96 IO device to have a few extra for your inputs. Some have counters on the inputs so it can automatically count incoming pulses.
Expect to spend about $300 - $500. 5V (TTL) level is the standard for these devices. Pay attention to the voltage the device is designed for, it's easy to buy the wrong one.
As far as getting the software to do your specific job, wait until you get a unit and have started playing with the software library. There are at least 20 ways to skin that cat. Though basically, figure out how to send a 1 second pulse. Once you do that, it's easy to call that routine n times, for whichever output.
